Hi, I’m Jimmi, your local Kitset Assembly Technician covering Williamstown and surrounding Western Melbourne suburbs.

My name is Jimmi Parmar, and I moved to Australia 25 years ago. Like many people, my career journey hasn’t followed a straight line — but every experience along the way has helped shape where I am today.

I initially studied Hospitality Management, but soon realised it wasn’t the career for me. After deciding to make Australia home, I went on to work across a wide range of industries, trades and businesses. For much of my working life, I’ve been self-employed, and I’ve always enjoyed the independence and responsibility that comes with running your own business.

At one point, with a little encouragement from my wife, I took a warehouse job. While it provided stability, I quickly realised how much I missed working for myself. I knew I wanted to get back into business and find something that suited both my skills and the way I wanted to work.

I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands. Whether it’s using tools, restoring and repairing things, or assembling something from the ground up, there’s a real satisfaction in seeing a finished result at the end of the day. That’s what initially attracted me to Kitset.

After attending my Kitset Discovery Day, the decision became an easy one. I came home knowing this was the next business I wanted to build. The training only reinforced that decision — I genuinely enjoyed the work and could see myself making a successful business from something I already had a passion for.

Kitset has given me the opportunity to combine that practical side of my personality with the independence of running my own business. I get to work with tools, solve problems, meet different people and get out and about rather than being stuck in the same place every day.

And after around 25 years of hospitality hours and night shifts, there’s another benefit I’m particularly enjoying — waking up in the morning and working while the sun is actually up!
